The study aimed to determine the prevalence of dermatological manifestations in children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) by comparing 200 CKD children with 200 healthy controls. It found that skin, hair, and nail issues were significantly more common in the CKD group, with 94.5% showing skin manifestations compared to 78% of controls. Common issues in CKD children included skin pallor, xerosis, and atopic diathesis, while hair problems like flag hair and traction alopecia were also noted. Nail issues such as punctate leukonychia and ragged cuticles were prevalent. The study concluded that these dermatological manifestations were common across various CKD stages, with xerosis linked to higher creatinine levels and hypocalcemia.
