August 2025 in “Nutrients” This study found that Ageratum conyzoides extract enhanced hair growth in mice and human follicle cells, showing potential for hormonal modulation, pathway activation, and antioxidant protection; however, further clinical studies are needed to confirm efficacy in humans.
June 2023 in “Trichology and cosmetology:” This study found that 12-week oral supplementation of Ageratum conyzoides extract significantly reduced hairline recession and affected prostaglandin levels in adults with hair loss, though hair density increases were not statistically significant, and no improvements were found in other hair loss measures compared to placebo.
July 2022 in “Asian Journal of Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology” This study found that Ageratum conyzoides showed antihyperglycemic and antilipidemic effects in diabetic rats, with significant changes in hematological and serum electrolyte parameters at 2000mg/kg.
December 2021 in “Prosiding Seminar Nasional Kesehatan” In this study, the hair tonic made from the ethanol extract of bandotan leaves, applied on local male rabbits for 21 days, demonstrated significant hair growth activity, especially at a 20% concentration, showing the highest hair length and weight improvements.
