process where glucose breaks down with oxygen to produce energy

Aerobic glycolysis, also known as oxidative glycolysis, is a metabolic process where glucose is broken down in the presence of oxygen to produce energy, carbon dioxide, and water. This process occurs in the mitochondria and is more efficient than anaerobic glycolysis, yielding up to 36-38 ATP molecules per glucose molecule compared to just 2 ATP in anaerobic conditions.
