The ACTH Stimulation Test, also known as the Adrenocorticotropic Hormone Stimulation Test, is a diagnostic procedure used to assess the functioning of the adrenal glands. During the test, synthetic ACTH is administered to stimulate the adrenal glands to produce cortisol, and blood samples are taken to measure cortisol levels before and after the injection. This helps diagnose conditions like Addison's disease or adrenal insufficiency.
