TLDR Wrightia tinctoria extract may promote hair growth better than minoxidil.
The study investigated the effects of Wrightia tinctoria extract on alopecia, comparing its activity to standard drugs like minoxidil. Phytochemical assessments showed the presence of aromatic hydrogen and aromatic protons in the extract. In-silico studies revealed that compounds 1 and 6 from the extract had higher docking values than minoxidil and could cross the blood-brain barrier without being substrates of PgP carriers. In-vivo studies were conducted on albino male Wistar rats, assessing hair growth activities of the extract over 15 and 30 days and including histopathological studies of hair growth phases. The results suggested that compounds within W.tinctoria, specifically Quercetin and Indirubin, have significant hair growth-promoting activities.
