TLDR Vogt–Koyanagi–Harada disease can cause rare hair growth on normally hairless thumb skin.
This case report documents a rare occurrence of vellus-like hair growth on the glabrous skin of a 25-year-old woman with Vogt–Koyanagi–Harada disease (VKHD). The patient experienced unusual hair growth on the radial and palmar surface of her distal thumb, appearing 2 years after her initial VKHD diagnosis. Managed with low-dose oral prednisolone, the hair growth recurred twice over 2 years, each episode lasting 4 to 6 weeks, and did not recur thereafter. This finding is significant as it expands the known integumentary manifestations of VKHD, highlighting the rarity of hair follicles or vellus-like hairs on typically hairless skin.
