TLDR The PCOS questionnaire is valid for Indian women, but metformin doesn't significantly improve symptoms beyond oral contraceptives.
This study aimed to validate the PCOS questionnaire in assessing the quality of life in women with PCOS undergoing lifestyle changes and treatment with oral contraceptive pills, with or without metformin. Conducted with 50 participants, the study found that the combination of metformin and OC pills significantly improved menstrual irregularities and hirsutism, but did not significantly affect symptoms related to being overweight or psychological and emotional conditions. The study concluded that the PCOS questionnaire was validated for the Indian population, but metformin did not show a significant additional effect on symptom improvement, possibly due to the small sample size or short duration of the study.
