TLDR The questionnaire is valid and reliable but needs more testing for future predictions.
The study conducted a confirmatory factor analysis on the Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Health-Related Quality-of-Life Questionnaire (PCOSQ-50) among 350 Iranian females with PCOS, resulting in a refined 43-item questionnaire. This revised version, which included a self-body image subscale instead of a coping subscale, was grouped into six factors: psychosocial and emotional, self-body image, fertility, sexual function, obesity and menstrual disorder, and hirsutism. It demonstrated acceptable fit indices and high internal consistency, with a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.92, indicating reliability for assessing quality of life in females with PCOS. The study emphasized the need for a specialized instrument due to the heterogeneous nature of PCOS and its impact on quality of life, although the convenience sampling limited the generalizability of the findings. Further research was suggested to confirm the questionnaire's efficacy across diverse populations and clinical settings.
