TLDR PCOS affects quality of life most in infertility, and treatments vary by weight.
The study assessed the health-related quality of life in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) using the Chinese PCOS Questionnaire (chi-PCOSQ) Likert scale. It found that the most significant quality of life impairment was in the infertility domain, followed by menstrual irregularity, acne, and hair loss. The study also noted that spontaneous abortions were more frequent in PCOS patients with a BMI above normal. Treatment with metformin was effective for overweight and obese patients, while clomiphene citrate and inositol were more effective for non-obese and underweight patients.
