TLDR A reliable method was developed to measure Minoxidil and Tofacitinib in gel for hair loss treatment.
The study presents a validated UV-spectrophotometric method for the simultaneous estimation of Minoxidil and Tofacitinib citrate in both bulk and topical gel formulations, aimed at treating Alopecia areata. The method adheres to International Council for Harmonisation (ICH) guidelines and demonstrates high selectivity, specificity, precision, accuracy, ruggedness, and robustness. Minoxidil and Tofacitinib citrate show peak absorbance at 258nm and 290nm, respectively, with a concentration range of 2-10µg/mL adhering to Beer's law. The Limits of Detection (LOD) and Limits of Quantification (LOQ) for Minoxidil are 0.537µg/mL and 1.628µg/mL, while for Tofacitinib citrate, they are 0.427µg/mL and 1.294µg/mL. Recovery rates in the gel formulation range from 50.00% to 150.00%, confirming the method's suitability for routine analysis.
