TLDR Unani medicine offers a natural, effective approach to treating hair loss with minimal side effects, but needs more scientific validation.
The review explores the Unani system of medicine's holistic approach to managing androgenetic alopecia (AGA), focusing on restoring hair by addressing underlying humoral imbalances rather than merely controlling hair loss. Unani medicine attributes AGA to factors like scalp laxity, dry scalp temperament, nutritional deficiencies, and morbid material beneath the skin, and employs pharmacotherapy, dietary interventions, and regimenal therapies. The review concludes that Unani medicine presents a promising, natural, and effective alternative with minimal adverse effects, but highlights the necessity for further scientific validation to establish standardized protocols and improve clinical applicability.
