TLDR A new method accurately measures plant ingredients in hair growth products.
A method was developed to simultaneously determine 17 characteristic ingredients of plant extracts in hair growth cosmetics using ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UPLC). The process involved ultrasonic-assisted extraction with a methanol/water solution, followed by demulsification and high-speed centrifugation. The analysis was conducted on a Waters reversed phase column with a photodiode-array detector. The method demonstrated a linear range of 0.2-25 mg/L with high correlation coefficients, detection limits of 0.3-1.5 mg/kg, and quantification limits of 1.0-4.0 mg/kg. The average recoveries ranged from 93.5% to 105.0%, with precision under 4.6%. This simple and rapid method showed good repeatability and was applied to real sample analysis.
