TLDR Tridax procumbens is a promising herb for developing safe, affordable plant-based medicines.
Tridax procumbens, a tropical herb from the Asteraceae family, is traditionally used for its diverse medicinal benefits, including anti-diabetes, antioxidant, antiarthritic, hepatoprotective, anticancer, wound healing, and hair loss treatments. This review highlights its pharmacological and phytochemical profile, revealing secondary metabolites like flavonoids, alkaloids, and sterols, which contribute to its strong biological activities. The herb's wide range of bioactivities, low toxicity, and availability in tropical regions make it a promising candidate for developing affordable, safe, and effective plant-based therapeutics. Further research into its phytochemistry and mechanisms may enhance its potential in novel drug discovery.
