TLDR Tridax procumbens is a promising herb for developing safe, affordable plant-based medicines.
Tridax procumbens, commonly known as coat buttons, is a tropical and subtropical herb with a wide range of medicinal uses, including treatments for diabetes, liver disorders, cancer, wound healing, and hair loss. This review highlights its pharmacological and phytochemical properties, identifying secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, alkaloids, and sterols, which contribute to its strong biological activities. The herb's low toxicity and availability in tropical regions make it a promising candidate for developing affordable and effective plant-based therapeutics. Further research into its phytochemistry and mechanisms may enhance its potential in novel drug discovery.
