TLDR Tridax procumbens is a promising herb for developing safe, affordable plant-based medicines.
Tridax procumbens, commonly known as coat buttons, is a tropical and subtropical herb with a wide range of medicinal uses, including treatments for diabetes, liver disorders, cancer, wound healing, and hair loss. This review highlights its pharmacological and phytochemical profile, revealing the presence of bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, and sterols, which contribute to its therapeutic potential. The herb's low toxicity and availability in tropical regions make it a promising candidate for developing affordable and effective plant-based therapeutics. Further research into its phytochemistry and mechanisms of action could solidify its role in novel drug discovery.
