TLDR Found new possible treatments for hair loss.
The 2017 study used microarray analysis to identify potential novel therapeutic targets for androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The study found that perturbed neurological pathways, apoptosis, cell proliferation, and WNT signaling are central drivers of hair loss. The study identified a gene signature associated with AGA and potential drug targets (PTGIR, SP1, BCL2, HDAC2, and NR3C1) for future AGA therapies.
