The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of topical products containing Serenoa repens extract in treating male androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The study involved male participants who used the products for 24 weeks. The results showed that the use of topical products containing Serenoa repens extract could increase hair number and hair weight in patients with AGA, resulting in clinical benefits and increased satisfaction with hair appearance. Mild side-effects were reported, but none of the participants needed to stop using the products. The study suggests that S. repens-containing products could be alternative medications used in male pattern baldness in male patients who do not want or cannot tolerate the side-effects of standard medications.
