TLDR The gel may help hair regrow faster and improve skin after hair removal.
The study examined the effects of a topical gel containing 5% EMHPS, a synthetic antioxidant, on hair regrowth and skin condition in 50 male Wistar rats after chemical depilation. The EMHPS gel accelerated hair growth, reduced oxidative stress markers, and normalized antioxidant enzyme activity, as well as hydroxyproline and glycosaminoglycan content in the skin. While both the EMHPS gel and minoxidil enhanced hair regrowth, minoxidil provided more uniform follicle development due to its additional pharmacodynamic properties. The findings suggest that the EMHPS gel could be beneficial for treating alopecia associated with oxidative stress, although further research is needed to evaluate its efficacy in different alopecia models.
