A Study on the Role of Tofacitinib Among Patients Treated with Alopecia Areata

    TLDR Tofacitinib effectively treats Alopecia Areata.
    The study, conducted from May to October 2022, involved 60 patients with Alopecia Areata who were treated with Tofacitinib 5mg BD for 24 weeks. The effectiveness of the treatment was measured using the Severity of Alopecia Tool (SALT) score. The results showed that 82.9% of patients with Alopecia Areata had a greater than 50% change in their SALT score. Similarly, 75% of patients with Alopecia totalis and 66.7% of patients with Alopecia universalis showed a greater than 50% change in their SALT score. The study concluded that Tofacitinib is an effective treatment for patients with Alopecia Areata.
