TLDR Finasteride gel and tablet both have similar moderate effects in treating male hair loss.
The study, conducted 16 years ago, compared the therapeutic effects of Finasteride gel and tablet in the treatment of male androgenic alopecia. The double-blind clinical trial included 45 male patients, of which 38 completed the entire study period. The patients were divided into two groups: group A used Finasteride gel and a placebo tablet, while group B used a Finasteride tablet and a placebo gel. The treatment period lasted for 6 months. The results showed that both treatments had relatively similar moderate therapeutic effects, with no significant statistical differences. Specifically, the Finasteride gel had a 54.5% effectiveness rate, while the Finasteride tablet had a 56% effectiveness rate. The study concluded that 1% Finasteride gel produced similar therapeutic effects to the Finasteride tablet in patients with male alopecia.
