TLDR Low-level laser therapy might help hair growth, but more research is needed.
Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) was investigated for its efficacy in enhancing hair growth in seven patients over 3-6 months. The study found a decrease in vellus hairs, an increase in terminal hairs, and an increase in shaft diameter, but none of these changes were statistically significant. Blinded evaluations did not show improvement in hair density or caliber. While LLLT might be a promising option for those not responding to finasteride or minoxidil, larger, longer-term placebo-controlled studies were needed to confirm or refute these findings.
