TLDR A 5-year-old girl with McCune-Albright syndrome grew abnormal hair due to the drug tamoxifen.
A 5-year-old girl with McCune-Albright syndrome experienced unusual hair growth (hirsutism) approximately 2 months after starting tamoxifen treatment for peripheral precocious puberty. The pattern of terminal hair growth and the exclusion of other potential causes indicated that the hirsutism was induced by tamoxifen, a selective estrogen receptor modulator. This case highlighted an uncommon side effect of tamoxifen in pediatric patients.
