TLDR Good hair and scalp health indicate good overall health.
The study explored the Swastyayanam Indriyam chapter of Bhela Indriya Sthana, an ancient Ayurvedic text by Maharshi Bhela, which provided methods for assessing general health through physical parameters such as hair and scalp health, oral health, and facial aging. It suggested that the absence of dandruff and hair loss indicated good health, while their presence could denote underlying health issues. The methods were simple, non-invasive, and cost-effective, making them suitable for low or middle-income countries. The study highlighted the need for further research to substantiate these claims and guide future research directions, noting that Bhela's observations were scientifically rational but required more objectivity and standardization.
