TLDR Protein supplements with zinc, iron, and B vitamins reduce hair loss after sleeve gastrectomy.
This study evaluated the effects of various supplements on hair loss prevention after sleeve gastrectomy in female candidates. Participants were divided into three groups: group 1 received routine multivitamin mineral supplements, group 2 received zinc, iron, and B vitamins in addition to routine supplements, and group 3 received protein supplements along with zinc, iron, B vitamins, and routine supplements. After 3 months, group 3 showed a significant increase in hair count in the frontal area, from 137 to 177 hairs per cm², compared to groups 1 and 2, which experienced hair loss. The study concluded that protein supplements, alongside micronutrients, were more effective in reducing hair loss post-surgery.
