TLDR Sublingual minoxidil significantly improves hair growth in transgender individuals on testosterone therapy.
This study investigated the effect of sublingual minoxidil on androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in transgender individuals undergoing testosterone therapy for gender affirmation. Conducted over 24 weeks, the trial was single-centre, double-blinded, randomized, and placebo-controlled. The results demonstrated that sublingual minoxidil significantly improved hair growth compared to the placebo group, suggesting its potential as an effective treatment for AGA in this population. The study's design and control measures strengthen the validity of these findings, providing a promising option for managing hair loss in transgender individuals on testosterone therapy.
