New to Platelet-Rich Plasma? There is a guide in the encyclopedia. Read the guide → Studysummary In this systematic review and meta-analysis, the researchers found no significant difference in platelet concentration, hair density improvement, or changes in terminal and vellus hair rates between single-spin and double-spin PRP centrifugation protocols in treating androgenic alopecia. Our plain-language summary of this paper — not a Tressless recommendation.
This systematic review and meta-analysis compared the efficacy of single-spin versus double-spin platelet-rich plasma (PRP) centrifugation methods in treating androgenic alopecia (AGA) across three randomized controlled trials with 90 participants. The study found no significant difference in platelet concentration, hair density, or terminal and vellus hair rates between the two methods. However, the results suggest that single-spin PRP centrifugation may be more effective for AGA treatment. The study highlights the need for further research to establish a standardized PRP treatment protocol for AGA.
