The study investigates the sustainable livelihood utilization of shea butter among rural women in Afijio LGA, Oyo State, Nigeria, focusing on its economic and medicinal benefits. Using data from 84 respondents, the research highlights that 84% of shea butter producers are female, with most having 5 to 10 years of experience. Shea butter contributes significantly to meeting basic needs and paying bills for rural women, with an annual return rate of 81%, indicating profitability. It is used for treating sunburn, arthritis, scalp irritation, and promoting hair growth, and is also valued as a cooking oil. The study finds that age and sex significantly influence the quality of shea butter produced.
