TLDR Minoxidil lowers blood pressure in kids with kidney issues, but use carefully due to side effects.
The study investigated the use of minoxidil in treating severe hypertension in children with renal disease. The mean blood pressure decreased from 158/112 to 133/90 with therapy, and 13 children had an antihypertensive response. However, there were complications such as hypertrichosis in 14, fluid retention in 4, and decreased renal function in 2. The study concludes that minoxidil is a valuable antihypertensive drug in children but should be used with caution.
