TLDR Patients with Alopecia Areata have higher levels of certain inflammatory markers.
This study investigated the levels of serum Interleukin-18 (IL-18) and NLRP3 in 50 patients with Alopecia Areata (AA) compared to 50 healthy controls. The results showed that both IL-18 and NLRP3 levels were significantly higher in patients with AA than in the control group, with a P-value of 0.01. This suggests a potential role of these inflammatory markers in the pathogenesis of AA, highlighting their importance in understanding the inflammatory processes involved in this condition.
