TLDR Higher Alarin levels may predict androgenetic alopecia and metabolic syndrome.
This study investigated the relationship between serum Alarin levels and androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 80 participants, including 50 AGA patients and 30 controls. The results showed that Alarin levels were significantly higher in AGA patients compared to controls and increased with the severity of AGA. Additionally, Alarin levels were notably higher in individuals with metabolic syndrome and correlated positively with triglycerides, cholesterol, LDL, VLDL, and fasting blood sugar. The findings suggest that Alarin could be a potential marker for predicting both metabolic syndrome and AGA.
