TLDR EVAL membranes help create cell structures that can regrow hair follicles.
This 14-year-old study explores the use of poly(ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol) (EVAL) membranes as a substrate for the self-assembly of dermal papilla cells (DPCs) into inductive spheroidal microtissues for hair follicle regeneration. The researchers found that EVAL membranes supported the formation of DPC microtissues with high viability and proliferation rates, and that these microtissues were able to induce hair follicle formation in vivo. The study suggests that EVAL membranes may be a promising substrate for hair follicle regeneration.
