TLDR Scalp tonics are popular for stress-related hair loss, but minoxidil is used less due to side effects and inconvenience.
The study surveyed 203 adults in their 20s to 60s experiencing stress-induced hair loss, focusing on their usage and perception of scalp tonic and minoxidil. The results showed that 48.3% of participants identified stress as the primary cause of their hair loss. The majority (86.7%) had a positive preference for scalp care (Head Spa Therapy) for scalp health and hair loss relief. The most common actions to prevent scalp disease and relieve hair loss symptoms were shampoo replacement and scalp tonic use (45.5%), with 58.3% of participants having experience using scalp tonics. However, 85.3% had no experience using minoxidil, and those who did reported side effects such as stickiness, bad smell, and others (58.7%). The study concluded that while scalp tonics were positively perceived, minoxidil's usage was limited due to its inconvenient use and perceived risk of side effects. The authors suggest that improving product power and developing convergent technology that combines scalp cosmetics and drug treatments could greatly contribute to the scalp hair cosmetics industry.
