TLDR Scalp micropigmentation is a safe way to hide hair loss and scalp scars by tattooing tiny dots that look like hair follicles.
Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a noninvasive, safe, and effective technique used to conceal hair loss and scalp deformities, including androgenetic alopecia, alopecia areata, eyebrow thinning and loss, and scars on the scalp. The procedure involves using a device with needles to implant metabolically inert pigment granules into the upper- and mid-papillary dermis. The resulting stippling pattern mimics hair follicles and reduces the skin-to-hair color contrast, which helps to camouflage areas of alopecia.
