TLDR The natural shampoo made from Gleditsia sinensis Lam and other ingredients showed good foaming, cleaning, and protective properties.
The study focuses on the extraction of saponin from Gleditsia sinensis Lam and its application in natural shampoo formulations. The researchers from Guangdong University of Technology and the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Plant Resources Biorefinery developed an efficient extraction method for saponin, which is known for its natural surfactant properties. The extracted saponin was then tested in shampoo formulations, demonstrating its potential as an effective and eco-friendly alternative to synthetic surfactants commonly used in commercial shampoos. The findings suggest that saponin from Gleditsia sinensis Lam can enhance the cleansing properties of natural shampoos while being gentle on the scalp and hair.
