TLDR Micronized-gingival connective tissues are safe and may help regenerate soft tissue around dental implants.
This pilot case series study, conducted at Nagasaki University, investigated the safety and preliminary efficacy of micronized-gingival connective tissues (MGCTs) for peri-implant mucosa regeneration in dental implant therapy. Involving 4 patients, the study found that MGCTs did not cause any irreversible adverse events and showed potential efficacy for reconstructing peri-implant soft tissues. The procedure demonstrated successful regeneration of peri-implant mucosa over a 16-week period, suggesting MGCTs as a promising alternative to traditional grafting methods due to their low morbidity and ease of use. However, further studies on a larger scale were needed to confirm these findings.
