TLDR Dutasteride is safe and effective for treating hair loss, but may decrease libido.
This document is a compilation of five different studies that evaluated the safety and tolerability of dutasteride, a dual 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The studies involved a total of 1,690 male participants from Korea and other countries. The results showed that dutasteride was generally well-tolerated and safe, with decreased libido being the most frequent adverse drug reaction. The studies also found that dutasteride was effective in improving hair growth and reducing hair loss. The authors suggest that dutasteride may be a promising treatment option for AGA, but further evidence is needed.
