TLDR Botulinum toxin type A is a safe and effective treatment for male pattern baldness.
The study investigated the safety and efficacy of botulinum toxin type A on male pattern baldness (MPB) in 22 patients. Participants received intradermal injections of 30 units of botulinum toxin type A around hair follicles every 4 weeks for 24 weeks. Results showed a significant increase in hair count by 6.61±9.96 per ㎠ and improvement in the Physician’s global assessment scale. No serious adverse events were reported, only temporary local pain and transient erythema. The study concluded that botulinum toxin type A is a safe and effective treatment for MPB, potentially serving as an adjunctive or alternative therapy.
