TLDR Rosemary oil may reduce hair greying risk.
This cross-sectional study in Saudi Arabia involving 994 participants, primarily young females, investigated the relationship between rosemary use and hair greying. It found that 22.8% of rosemary users experienced hair greying, with age and higher education levels as risk factors. However, rosemary oil use was linked to a 38% reduced risk of hair greying, suggesting a protective effect. Minoxidil, in contrast, was associated with hair discolouration in 26% of users. The study highlights the potential of rosemary oil in reducing hair greying but notes limitations such as gender imbalance and short usage duration, recommending further research on herbal medicine in hair care.
