Reversal of Androgenic Alopecia by Minoxidil: Lack of Effect of Simultaneously Administered Intermediate Doses of Cyproterone Acetate

TLDR Minoxidil can regrow hair, but cyproterone acetate doesn't help when used together.
A male volunteer with frontal alopecia was treated daily with 20 mg cyproterone acetate and 5 mg minoxidil topically. New hair growth was observed on the alopecic scalp during the treatment. However, the new hair was lost after discontinuing minoxidil treatment, despite the continuation of cyproterone acetate. This indicated that minoxidil was effective in reversing androgenic alopecia, while cyproterone acetate had no significant effect when administered simultaneously at intermediate doses.
