    TLDR K10 may not prevent tumors as previously thought and might increase benign tumor risk.
    The correspondence addressed the role of keratin 10 (K10) in keratinocyte differentiation and its influence on cell cycle exit and tumor development. While earlier studies suggested that K10 might inhibit cell proliferation and delay tumor development, experiments with a modified mouse model expressing a K10 fusion protein (K1014chim) showed no reduction in keratinocyte proliferation. Instead, these mice exhibited increased susceptibility to benign tumors, possibly due to reduced apoptosis, which contradicted previous findings about K10's protective role against tumors. The authors emphasized the need for further research to clarify the molecular mechanisms and resolve discrepancies between different studies.
