TLDR Combining narrow-band ultraviolet B light and stem cell transplantation helps repigmentation in vitiligo by maintaining calcium balance in mice.
The study investigated the effects of combined narrow-band ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) and adipose-derived stem cell (ADSC) transplantation on repigmentation in a mouse model of vitiligo, involving 40 female mice. The results showed that this combination treatment significantly enhanced repigmentation and improved oxidative stress and calcium unbalancing, compared to either treatment alone. The Nrf2/HO-1 pathway played a crucial role in this process by maintaining calcium homeostasis, and its protective effect was strongly negated by the Nrf2 inhibitor ML385. The study suggests that the combined NB-UVB/ADSC treatment could be a promising strategy for treating conditions like vitiligo.

Finasteride maintains existing hair, but Minoxidil is less effective on hairlines. Walton Goggins is admired for his receding hairline, possibly using Finasteride and Minoxidil without a hair transplant.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
