TLDR Female pattern hair loss greatly affects women's quality of life, causing mild depression and anxiety, and increases medical expenses.
The study conducted by the Department of Dermatology, Inha University School of Medicine, Incheon, Korea, involved 202 Korean women with Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL). It found that FPHL significantly impacts the quality of life, depression, anxiety, and medical consumption of patients. The severity of hair loss was the most influential factor on these aspects, with average Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) scores of 14.47 and 10.06 respectively, indicating mild depression. The study also found that medical expenses were related to treatment experience and the number of clinic visits. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the psychological stress experienced by FPHL patients and can help enhance future hair loss treatments.
