Studysummary In this case series, researchers reviewed 38 case studies involving Prontosan® products for chronic lower limb ulcers and found that the treatments significantly improved wound healing and various quality of life outcomes, such as reduced malodour and pain, better mobility, and enhanced social life. Our plain-language summary of this paper — not a Tressless recommendation.
This review of 38 case studies involving 56 chronic lower limb ulcers treated with PHMB products (Prontosan® Solution, Prontosan® Wound Gel X, and Prontosan® Debridement Pad) found that 36 of the case studies reported wound healing or improvement. The study highlights that these treatments not only enhance wound healing but also significantly improve quality of life (QoL) outcomes, including reductions in malodour, slough, and exudate, as well as improvements in pain, mobility, hair growth, antibiotic intake, return to work, social life, and mood.
