TLDR Hair transplantation significantly improves quality of life and self-esteem in men with hair loss.
The study assessed the impact of hair transplantation on the quality of life and self-esteem in 35 male patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) and the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), the research found significant improvements post-surgery. The average preoperative DLQI score was 6.31, which increased to 8.48 postoperatively (p < 0.001), indicating a better quality of life. Similarly, the average self-esteem score improved from 15.65 to 21 (p < 0.001). The study concluded that hair transplantation significantly enhances both the quality of life and self-esteem in AGA patients. Marital status did not significantly affect these outcomes, but education level did, with higher education correlating with greater improvements in quality of life.
