TLDR Patients felt happier with their looks and younger after hair transplant surgery, but their well-being and social life didn't change much.
The study assessed the satisfaction of 131 patients who had hair transplantation surgery using modified FACE-Q scales. Results indicated a significant increase in satisfaction with appearance, with the mean score rising by 29.62 points at 6 months post-surgery, and patients perceiving themselves as 5.81 years younger. Factors such as income, educational level, and the purpose of hair transplantation influenced satisfaction, while psychological well-being, social function, and satisfaction with the decision to undergo surgery did not show significant changes postoperatively. The FACE-Q scales were deemed valid and reliable for evaluating patient satisfaction. The study, funded by the Natural Science Foundation of China, suggested the need for a larger sample size for future research and considered the potential influence of hair growth-promoting drugs on the results.
