TLDR Both EQ-5D-5L and SF-6DV2 are valid for measuring health but can't be used interchangeably.
The study assessed the psychometric performance of EQ-5D-5L and SF-6DV2 health utility scores (HUS) among 474 Chinese university staff and students. Both instruments demonstrated acceptable validity but were not interchangeable. EQ-5D-5L generally produced higher HUSs, indicating a higher ceiling effect, while SF-6DV2 was more sensitive in detecting health issues, particularly in vitality. The study concluded that SF-6DV2 might provide a more nuanced assessment of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) due to its lower ceiling effect and better distributional properties. The choice of HRQOL measurement tool is crucial for decision-making in resource allocation. The study was limited by its cross-sectional design and data collection method.
