TLDR Regulatory measures are needed to ensure safe production and use of platelet concentrates in Brazil.
The study assessed the practices of production, storage, and use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and related products in Brazil, highlighting significant variability in these processes. Data were collected through an anonymous electronic questionnaire, with 64 responses (36 complete and 28 partial). The findings showed a predominance of double centrifugation protocols for PRP production, mainly used in orthopedics, physiatry, and sports medicine, while single centrifugation without platelet activation was common for platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) in dentistry. The study concluded that regulatory measures are needed to address critical points and ensure safety in the production and use of platelet concentrates.
