TLDR PRP and PRF can effectively heal chronic wounds.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) have shown promise in treating chronic wounds, as demonstrated in two case reports. Case 1, a post-chemical burn chronic ulcer, healed completely in three weeks with weekly PRP injections and PRF dressings. Case 2, a post-pilonidal sinus abscess incision, healed in eight weeks using the same treatment. These results suggest that PRP and PRF could be effective in managing chronic wounds, and the authors recommend their use for conditions like diabetic and bed ulcers.
