Harmony in Healing: Investigating Platelet-Rich Plasma Activation During Acetylsalicylic Acid Treatment

Małgorzata Maj, Remigiusz Tomczyk, Anna Bajek
This study examines the impact of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) on the activation of platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which is important for releasing growth factors and cytokines. It found that ASA-treated patients had increased inflammatory cytokines in non-activated PRP, particularly TNFa. Different activation methods, such as autologous thrombin/CaCl2 and collagen IV, showed varied cytokine release patterns between ASA-treated and non-treated groups. The research underscores the challenges of using antiplatelet drugs like ASA in PRP therapies and the necessity for personalized approaches and standardized PRP preparation methods to optimize treatment outcomes, especially considering medication interactions in regenerative therapies.
