The study developed an automated hair iron to control temperature, contact force, and gliding speed, examining its effects on curly hair. It was found that irreversible straightening depended on temperature and the number of ironing cycles, with optimal results at around 154°C, balancing speed, performance, and hair integrity. Silicone treatment did not alter microfilament denaturation but improved straightening quality by enhancing fiber alignment. This method showed promise for achieving permanent hair smoothing without chemical treatments.
