TLDR Zinc acetate hydrate may help reduce fatigue and hair loss in post-COVID-19 patients.
The study examined factors influencing the recovery of post-COVID-19 symptoms in 120 outpatients (44 males and 76 females) over 12 weeks. The main lingering symptoms were taste disorder, olfactory disorder, hair loss, and fatigue. Treatment with zinc acetate hydrate significantly improved fatigue after 8 weeks (P = 0.030) and showed a trend towards improvement at 12 weeks (P = 0.060). Hair loss also significantly improved in the treated group at 4, 8, and 12 weeks (P = 0.002, P = 0.002, and P = 0.006). The findings suggest that zinc acetate hydrate may help alleviate fatigue and hair loss in post-COVID-19 patients.
